Bonita this was an interesting read. I am writing as a white, relatively conservative Baptist pastor in Canada. So I acknowledge my observations may be very different than your Mennonite upbringing. But the "white Jesus" you portray sound abhorent, and completely unrecognizable to me, as who has been grown and done much of my ministry in a relatively white and conservative denomination. However, the other Jesus you describe also seems just as unrecognizable, at least if jesus is compared with the backdrop of the Gospels. I do worry there is a little bit of "strawman" argumentation in your presentation, as well as the re-casting of God in our own image.
